THE ESTATE
In a quiet position in the heart of the Salve countryside, and just 3 km from the crystalline waters of the Ionian Sea, "Il Fierro" is the result of the attraction that this land has been able to exert on Lucilla and Roberto who, initially simple visitors, enchanted by the natural and cultural beauties of the area, decided to look for a place to be elected as their refuge, now in view of the end of their professional commitments.
The olive trees and the red soil, rich in iron - hence the name of the estate - surround the old Liama, a rural building typical of the area, brought back to life thanks to a meticulous renovation that used only natural materials and traditional techniques. The same natural elements also embrace the new building, made of bleached tuff blocks by expert craftsmen who, following the typical style, have also raised the classic star vaults in every room.
In the internal restructuring of the Liama, traditional and recycled furnishings were also used to enhance its original character, trying to maintain the essential spirit of the structure, without giving up a pleasant comfort even if deliberately lacking in luxury. Finally, the combination of old furnishings with design objects and contemporary art gives the rooms a lighter and more modern atmosphere.
The uninterrupted profile of the stone walls, all made by hand and dry, encloses everything, creating an oasis of peaceful isolation from everyday life, from which it will be difficult to escape, especially after immersing yourself in the turquoise water of the swimming pool!
ROOMS
La Liama has a large double bedroom, while in the living area there is a sofa that converts into a spacious bed also suitable for two adults.

There is a large kitchen area complete with 4 burners, oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, toaster, blender, mocha, dishes, tea towels and tablecloths, and various equipment.

Garden
Large garden embraced by traditional dry stone walls, dotted with prickly pears, plants typical of the Mediterranean scrub and more than 100 olive trees. Organic garden of vegetables and aromatic plants available to guests, as well as private veranda and pergola.

Pool
In the garden there is a suggestive infinity pool with hydromassage and outdoor shower, complete with a shaded relax area with masonry sofas.
Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for guests.

WHAT TO SEE
Ionian coast
A long walk is mandatory along the splendid sandy coast of the Ionian Sea, now known as the "Maldives of Salento", where many beaches follow one another until, after Gallipoli, you can reach enchanting places such as Punta della Suina and Punta Prosciutto, just to name the most famous destinations.
To enjoy the spectacle of the sun setting over the sea, we recommend that you go to Torre San Giovanni.
Adriatic coast
The Adriatic shore, overlooking the sea, offers breathtaking views and the opportunity to enjoy a rocky coast. Easy accesses are possible to Il Ciolo; to Marina di Novaglie with the picturesque harbor; to Marina Serra, with the beautiful natural pool; to Marina di Andrano, with its Grotta Verde; to the small but precious Cala dell'Acquaviva; up to Castro, in Santa Cesarea Terme and the suggestive cove of Porto Badisco.
Boat trip
You cannot miss an unforgettable boat ride to visit the numerous caves that overlook the sea on both the Ionian and Adriatic coasts. The routes and durations are many: very interesting is the morning tour that ends at lunchtime with a very rich 'aperitif' or the suggestive tour in the late afternoon that ends at sunset with the view of the red sun that plunges into the sea, that you can enjoy with a glass of Prosecco and some delicious Frisellina!!
Populated centers
Each inhabited center of Salento has unique views and vestiges of an industrious past, so it would be wrong not to name them all. You cannot miss the visits to the Baroque cities of Lecce and Nardò; to Otranto, with the Cathedral and its precious mosaic; to Gallipoli and the narrow streets of the historic center; to Presicce, with the guided tour of the underground oil mills; to Specchia; to Ruffano; to Ugento; to Galatina, with the surprising Basilica of Santa Caterina; to Tricase and Tricase Porto; to Santa Maria di Leuca and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae where, at the foot of the majestic lighthouse, the gaze is lost where the two seas blend.
